Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Just Friends

Five faces incline toward one another in quiet profile, most in cream and tawny skin tones though one figure reads in a cooler lavender hue, anchoring a canvas otherwise consumed by red — a crimson field scraped down to reveal white canvas and stray patches of cerulean, yellow, and green beneath. Overhead, loops of black and garnet line whip and coil like scribbled thought, punctuated by small drips that end in round, weighted bulbs. The mood is intimate and unhurried, heads bowed toward each other as if mid-conversation, a tight private cluster of company. Just Friends — an original work of art by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco.
