Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

New York

Rather than a skyline or street scene, this canvas reads as a cluster of bold, black-outlined forms set against a ground of sunflower yellow and cyan blue: on the right, a tower capped with a rounded dome and topped by a cross-like form; at center, tall ladder-rung structures striped in orange, blue, and tan; on the left, a triangular orange shape rising like a sail from a dark hull. Loose strokes of green, magenta, and red animate the background, keeping the palette bright and unresolved rather than literally urban or architectural.
