Jerusalem

A deep blue sky, worked in dense mottled strokes of ultramarine and pale cobalt, hangs over a cluster of white buildings with small yellow windows. Dark green cypress-like trees rise between the walls in loose vertical dabs. At the right of centre sits a golden-brown dome above a block of dark blue, ringed by white rooftops streaked with turquoise. Thick white outlines and scraped yellow arches fill the foreground. The whole city seems to rest quietly beneath the night-blue sky. Jerusalem — an original acrylic on canvas by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco.
