Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Just a Painting

An all-over skein of drips and flicked lines covers the canvas edge to edge — ochre and gold dominate, threaded through with navy, forest green, and black, while the raw white ground shows through in the gaps. Small punctuation marks of turquoise, coral, and magenta stud the linear tangle like scattered confetti. Nothing resolves into a figure or a scene; the picture is pure gesture, dense and unbothered, its title as plainspoken as the paint is not.
