Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Lite B

A field of vertical drips in cobalt blue, teal, olive, and butter yellow runs the height of the canvas, pulled downward as if the paint were still wet when the brush left it. A single horizontal band of violet-blue with a thin red edge cuts across the lower third, anchoring the composition like a horizon line or a beam of light striking dark water. Beneath it, the color deepens into blacks and forest greens, streaked and scraped, giving the piece a cool, turbulent, almost aquatic mood entirely without figuration.
