Garden Bouquet

Thick, palette-knife impasto builds a dense mass of blossoms against dark green-blue foliage: coiling orange-red ranunculus-like curls, clusters of small white and pink flowers, and scattered yellow highlights knot together into an arched, bush-like form. Cooler gray-blue spiral accents punctuate the reds and oranges, and a few black voids sit deep in the shadows between blooms. The mass narrows toward its base into dark green and rust-colored stems above a bright yellow-green ground. Color, not line, carries the composition — no single bloom is fully resolved, only suggested through loaded, gestural strokes. Garden Bouquet — an original work by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco.
