Nena

A profile bent low, dark curls rendered in thick, tangled strokes of near-black paint, dissolves into a slab of egg-yolk yellow that reads as both dress and shoulder. Around her, the canvas breaks into raked white gesso, teal, and acid-green underpainting, as if the figure is caught mid-turn inside a squall of color. The brushwork stays loose and unresolved at the edges, tightening only at the profile's brow and lip, where a single confident line locates the face.
