Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Noon

A molten orange sun sits low and full at the center of the canvas, ringed in deepening red and set against a sky that fades upward into pale, cloud-streaked white and powder blue. Below the dark horizon line, the same fire repeats across the water in horizontal bands of olive, mustard, and burnt orange, cooling into deeper blue at the foreground. The composition rests on a single vertical axis — sun, reflection, sea — and the low position of the light gives the piece the hush of dusk more than the height of midday.
