Sugar Town
A row of gabled stalls or cottages, their roofs pitched at odd angles, hangs thick with vertical strokes of magenta, marigold, and red — market goods, ribbons, or simply color given weight and gravity. Above the rooftops, a turquoise line loops and doubles back on itself in loose cursive, tracing smoke or wind against a wash of yellow-green foliage and white sky. The ground beneath is scraped in horizontal streaks of sky-blue and gold, more suggestion than surface, and a scrawl of yellow paint in the lower right sits caught in the same gesture as everything around it. The whole scene reads as festive and slightly overheated, built entirely from brushwork rather than outline. Sugar Town — an original work by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco. Authenticity & Terms.
