Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Summer Time 1

Color moves faster than form here: a lattice of turquoise crosshatching holds the canvas together while thick ropes of red and burnt-orange paint fall in long vertical drips, pooling into fat teardrop knots along the way. Diagonal slashes of yellow cut across the grid, and small orbs of violet and periwinkle sit like held breath in the gaps between splatters. Pale pink and white flicks skim the surface last, catching the eye before it settles on the density of red beneath. The effect is kinetic and unresolved — motion captured mid-gesture, not posed.
