A thick-bodied red heart, built up in glossy ridges of paint, sits at the center of a field of vertical orange and red drips falling like rain through a scumbled ground of pale turquoise and cream. Small lavender-blue blobs punctuate the quieter passages inside the heart's curves, while a scatter of yellow diagonal strokes cuts across the surface, keeping the palette from settling into any one register. The heart's outline is loose and hand-drawn rather than symmetrical — one side rounder and heavier than the other — giving the familiar shape an unfinished, searching quality.
