Gallery Veronica Ruiz de Velasco

Sunshine

The canvas is bathed almost entirely in yellow, from pale lemon at the edges to a deeper, honeyed gold pooling toward the base. Loose calligraphic marks — loops, hooks, and quick cursive flourishes in ochre and burnt orange — drift across the surface like handwriting caught mid-thought, while thin ribbons of green cut through in isolated, quieter gestures. There is no horizon and no figure, just warmth built in layers, brushstroke over brushstroke, until the whole surface seems to radiate its own light.
