Traveling to Egipt — by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco: maroon-trunked palm trees over pyramid shapes and sailing boats on turquoise water

Traveling to Egipt

A cluster of palm trees, their maroon trunks topped by whipping teal and burgundy fronds, rises over a row of small sailing vessels rigged with triangular ochre and gold sails. The composition is built almost entirely from a turquoise-and-cobalt palette, laid down in long, calligraphic strokes that read as wind and reflected water beneath the hulls. There is no horizon line to anchor the scene — masts, sails, and palm crowns are sketched in dark red-brown against a bare white ground, giving the harbor a sense of motion and heat-shimmer rather than a fixed destination.
