Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus

Two faces meet in profile, foreheads and noses nearly touching, rendered in loose, expressive line work over a ground of coral, peach, and warm gold. The larger figure's hair falls in long ochre strokes past her shoulder as she bends toward a smaller face crowned in dark, curling brushwork. Turquoise flecks mark each eye, echoed by a scatter of faint blue specks in the background, the only cool notes in a palette built almost entirely from warmth — pink, cream, and honeyed yellow layered wet into wet across the canvas.
