Wonderful Animals

Vertical rivulets of red, yellow, cobalt, green, and magenta run the full height of the canvas, a controlled drip technique poured over a warm ivory ground. Beneath that curtain of color, loosely brushed animal faces emerge in outline — a panda's rounded ears and dark eye-patches sit right of center in inky navy, while a maroon face bares its teeth at left and a grinning blue-outlined face and a smaller red-lined face appear lower in the composition. Line drawing comes first, then a second pass of falling color drawn straight down the canvas like rain, so the animals seem glimpsed through weather.
