Loops of blue and black paint are squeezed straight from the tube and wound into concentric rings, red and yellow and white flicking out from the center like sparks thrown off a spinning wheel. The ground beneath keeps shifting through the gaps — blue, violet, green, and pink — giving the tangle a sense of depth it should not have.
