Welcome To the Gallery
Two dancers turn through a field of color, their forms dissolving into movement the way Veronica Ruiz de Velasco knew it from the inside — she trained as a ballerina before she ever took up a brush.
Painted in Mexico City in 1984, Arab Dancers carries the bright, unmistakably Mexican palette she brought to the subjects of the stage. Here anatomy gives way to motion; what remains is the energy of the dance itself.
An original oil on canvas by Veronica Ruiz de Velasco.
